I'm happy to announce the creation of the Human History Project: Creating a database of human history
More specifically, we would like to map publicly available data on the web to Open Linked Data.
Our first pilot project is to create a digital prosopography of Renaissance musicians and the next project may to start with Canadian history.

Jason's run-through for his doctoral symposium talk (on November 16th!) will immediately follow next week's lab meeting.
Ich's computer was stolen this past week, which lead to a discussion of off-site back ups. It might be a good idea for the lab to get a CrashPlan subscription for cloud back ups; Hannah will look into this.

Gabriel: continue working on Gamera features (diagonal projection). Gamera found a bug, trying to rotate one-pixel images. Thesis: scraping usernames from Last.fm (~5000 user names per day). Another script is getting public data for unique users and retrieving listening history.
Brian: finished RODAN job for inputting the staff group hint for the barline finding project. Moving onto correction interface for measures.

Ich: As an incentive to minimize travel expenses, the person who can find the cheapest flight gets a seat at dinner with Ich and Special Guest. Think about it.

Gabriel: Working on new feature for Gamera classifier. Also working on bar-finder with Greg.
Saining: Worked on relation extraction of Baker's for grant proposal.
